Embolism

Blood vessels are designed to carry blood in a liquid state. However, as we have learnt in an earlier blog, blood can be abnormally converted to a solid-or semi solid mass, which is termed as a thrombus. The thrombus may remain at the site of formation, or it may detach and become a thromboembolus. The…

About Me

Hi. I’m Veera, a haematologist and transfusion medicine specialist with side interests in computers, arts and indie music. An erstwhile fan of Game of Thrones, at least until the final season, which was quite a disappointment actually. Wasn’t that impressed with House of Dragons either although the dragons were just amazing.

My academic position is currently as a Clinical Professor with the Department of Preclinical Sciences at University Tunku Abdul Rahman.

Haematology was something that I took an interest in back from my medical student days, and I do wish to inspire some of my current students to take up haematology too. Its’ a field that promises so much. Even if you’re not enamoured with haematology, its’ still going to be an important subject as some of the most common conditions you will come across as a doctor would be related to haematology.

So, have fun learning haematology
